We began the day with our spelling test.
Next we continued working with equivalent
fractions and sets of fractions during math.
An example:
Lizzie has 12 pictures. She gave 1 third to
Khaliya. How many pictures did she give to Khaliya?
Our first step is drawing out the total
number of items in the question: 12
pictures
O O O O O O O O O O O O = 12 pictures
Next, we look at the 1 third and focus on the second number: Third, which means we need to make three equal groups.

Next, we look at the 1 third, this means that Lizzie gave 1 group out of the three
groups to Khaliya; in one group there are 4 pictures so Lizzie gave Khaliya
four pictures and she had 8 left.
We practiced working with similar questions
and did really well!!!!
Next we had a snack before the SJA versus
the Maples Oral competition.
After we watched the SJA versus the Maples
Oral competition!!!!! All our competitors did a wonderful job, including Julia
who got third place out of all the primary competitors. Way to go!!!!

Next we had lunch.
After lunch, we were really excited because
we were told that we are imagining that we are inventing a new toy and that we
are going to be writing an explanation for our new toy!!! Students had so much
fun using their big and bright imaginations!!!
After second recess and lunch, we continued
writing our toy explanation.
At the end of the day we had free time!!!
