Tremendous Tuesday!!!
We began the day reading chapter 6 and the
beginning of chapter 7 of Horrible Harry and the Holidaze. While doing so we
practiced making connections, reading comprehension and making predictions.
Next we had French and then Gym.
After first recess and lunch we had Music.
When we returned, we began our unit on
motion geometry. Today we began learning how to go about reading maps and grids
using a compass rose (north, east south, west) and directional language (left,
right, up and down). We played a game as a class to better understand how to
read a grid. We were given a grid of a playground and Ms. Jaskolka gave us specific directions so we could find specific
friends on the playground. Some tips from today: north, east, south and west
can be remembered by using a mnemonic device: never eat shredded wheat.
Here are some more fun ways:
•
Never Eat Slimy Worms
•
Never East Soggy Waffles
•
Never Eat Sour Worms (Only sweet ones!)
We also talked about how we can
differentiate our right from our left: Remember which hand we write with and
using this hand to help us remember our left and right; if we hold up an L with
both hand our left hand will make the proper L and our
right hand does not.
After second recess and lunch we got to
know more about the inclined plane!
Next we talked about what it means to be a
good friend and how to be a good friend. Ask us to find out what we talked
about!
