Fantastic Friday!

We began the day with our Ambassador’s Tea Party!

The purpose of the tea party: to allow ambassadors of developing countries to meet and exchange information about our developing country’s needs and resources with other ambassadors of developing countries. Issues of concern were discovered and discussed as it related to our own country and as global ambassadors. We expressed the needs as well as what our country has to offer. We made as many connections as possible and traded many items such as natural resources that other countries did not have or had very little of. We had so much sharing our learning during our Ambassador’s tea party with Mrs. Haag’s class!!!

After first recess and lunch we took up the math homework from last night and then had Music.

When we returned we moved onto our next lesson on percents.

Learning Goal: relate percent to fractions and decimals

We used yesterday’s lesson to discuss and do examples as to how to change a fraction to a decimal to a percent. We then did some questions of our own to better understand how to:

-write percents as a fraction
-write fractions as a percent
-write fractions as a decimal

Success Criteria:

I understand that:
-any fraction or decimal can be written as a percent and vice versa
-percent is another name for hundredths
-number lines can be used to show how fractions, decimals, and percents are related
I can:
-write percents as a fraction
-write fractions as a percent
-write fractions as a decimal
-problem solve using fractions, decimals and percents

After second recess and lunch we watched some of the commercials based on the PEPS of a Canadian province or city and received feedback.

We had some free time at the end of the day because we are working so hard!!!

Homework:

1.   Read Daily
2.   Math sheets
3.   Study for UOI test
