Tremendous
Thursday!!
We are
dressing in St. Patrick’s Day colours tomorrow!! J
We began the day
having a princess and super hero house game!! Select students answered
questions about super Heros and princesses while doing a relay.
After we had
physical education with Ms. Lovan.
When students
returned they practiced their presentations about their celebration. The videos
are too long to be uploaded. Ms. Jaskolka and the rest of the class learned a
lot about the Eyo festival, St Patrick’s Day, Thanksgiving, Independence Day in
India, and Chuseok celebrated in Korea.
For
math, we estimated how many counters Ms. Jaskolka had. We then started counting
out groups of 10; when we group items by ten, they become easier to count. We
also learned that when using snap cubes, we separate them into groups of ten;
this is one rod. We then used a place value mat to separate groups of 10s and
1s. All items go on right side of the mat (ones) then as we make ten we move
them to the tens side (left)
We
looked at the number 47 on the board and we answered:
I
have ___ 10’s and ___ 1’s. How do I say the number? What numeral have I
written?
After,
they were given cards that had equivalent amounts on them and they needed to
match them.
Students
then showed their understanding in their MMS books.
After first recess
and lunch, students had French. When students returned they wrote their
homework in their agendas. We then continued the UOI presentations.
After second
recess and lunch, we made a recipe for something that we wanted just like
Andrew made freckle juice because he wanted freckles. Some recipes were to have
sparkly skin, to be a fairy, and have long hair. After, we drew all the
ingredients onto a cup.
Homework:
1. Read for 20 minutes
2. Brochure information due March 23
3. Field trip form due March 23
4. Spelling test tomorrow
