Wonderful Wednesday!!
We began the day writing our homework in
our agendas and Ms. Jaskolka explained two upcoming projects:
DUE: April 1, 2016
Country Brochure Information:
-Students were each given a country to research
-Students
will perform research about this country and fill out the package given
-Students
will complete the research and package at home
-They
will use the information to create a brochure in class
-We will
be starting our brochures April 1st
-The
whole package that is going home needs to be done by this time, at home
-Students
are also asked to find pictures that will go onto their brochure (4-6)
-Pictures
need to be small because we will be using regular size paper to make the
brochures
Summative project:
Each student is being asked to design a paper doll that
represents the country his/her family is from. Students were given a paper doll
shape with them today. Students are to cut out the body and add fabric,
buttons, or anything else to show your child’s culture.
Also, each student will complete an information sheet
about his/her family’s culture.
This will be done at home and presented at school.
This project is due April 11.
We then watched the poem and speech
competition against the Maples. Joshua
did a great job getting second place!!!
After first recess and lunch, we practiced
trading in math. We looked at various questions on the board and determined if
we would need to trade or not. We figured out that when we are adding two-digit
numbers together, we can figure out whether or not we will need to trade by
looking at the 1s column. If the two numbers in the 1s column are less than 9,
we will not need to trade but if the sum is 10 or more, we will need to trade
10 ones for 1 ten stick. Students then answered various questions using a place
value mat.
We then watched the Shakespeare Play.
At the end of the day, we had the chance to
share what we did over the March break.
