Tremendous Thursday!!!
We will be having our math test next Thursday. Reviews went home today
and are to be completed for Tuesday.
Summative projects are also due on Tuesday.
We began the day writing our spelling test
and then our homework in our agendas.
We were then off to gym with Mr. Slyk.
After, we continued watching a Bill Nye
video about the Water Cycle. We learned that the water cycle is so important
because we never get new water but instead water travels through a cycle. Since
we never get new water, we need to make sure we are practicing water
conservation strategies and keeping our waters clean.
We then continued learning about fractions
during math. We were given problem solving questions related to fractions. For
example: 22 people want to get on the airplane. The airplane has 6 rows of 4
seats. Can everyone fit on the plane?
After, we continued working on our
adventure or scary stories, ensuring all our ideas connect together and that we
have a solution to our problem within our story.
After first recess and lunch, we had Music.
We then had French with Mdm. Stella.
After second recess and lunch, we had an
assembly about the Fort McMurray fires. The grade 5’s taught as about what
happened in Fort McMurray and how all the people had to leave their homes
because of the fires. We found out that people were told that they only had 5
minutes to pack their things and then they had to leave. We were then asked, if
we were only given 5 minutes to pack our things, what would we make sure to include.
We also watched some videos to better understand the situation. Afterwards, we
worked together to write letters to children from Fort McMurray, showing our
support and concern for them. Here are some examples:
Homework:
1. Read for 20 minutes
2. Summative due May 24
3. Summer Fiesta form
4. Lunch forms due May 23
5. Math review
6. Spelling test signed
