Magnificent Monday!!
St. Jude’s Academy
is excited to welcome back to our school the talented artists from ArtReach
Mississauga to lead exciting art workshops for our students. Students
will have a chance to join the ArtReach professionals for a two hour workshop
at SJA that focuses on engaging and comprehensive visual art
activities. ArtReach will be joining SJA on November 30th, December 1st and December 2nd. The cost of the workshop is $15.00.
This cost includes the workshop fee, and all materials. Forms and fees
are due back to the school by November 3rd, 2016.
We began the day having our Math test.
We then had physical education with Mr. H
and then French.
Following first recess and lunch, we had a
special delivery!!!! An announcement was made for two grade 2 students to come
down to the office to pick up a package. We decided to join Ms. Biamas to open
the package. First we all had a chance to feel how heavy it was and guess what
could be inside. When we opened the package, we found letters from Broc and
Coco, healthy super heroes, informing us that they have 2 missions for us!!!
Their first mission: to come up with our own super hero identity and super hero
power that is fueled by healthy foods. Their second mission for us: to come up
with a healthy living guide. These went home today. Students will fill out a
healthy meal once per day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner to be included at least
once). Students will also write down one exercise activity that they have done
for at least 20 minutes. Broc and Coco included various exercise activities that
we can do. Broc and Coco also informed us that it is important that we begin
these missions as soon as possible because their powers are weakening and we
need to help them regain their powers!! WOW!! We began our first mission right
away!!! Students created their own super hero identities that will be put up in
the hall when finished. We actually get to be healthy super heroes too!! We
also began our second mission today. We filled out one healthy meal and an
exercise activity we did today. Students’ will continue filling out their
healthy living guide at home. Students are asked to bring in their guides on Monday.
Students will present these in groups on Monday.
What an afternoon!!
Following second recess and lunch, we
worked on our lesson 7 words.
From last week:
Last week we worked on our own food plates
about the foods that we ate and we reflected upon our own food plates using a
balanced food plate that we created. For our age, Canada’s food guide states
that we need to be eating 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, 4 servings of grain products, 2 servings of milk and alternatives and 1 serving of meat and
alternatives.
