Tremendous Tuesday!
I hope everyone had a
restful and wonderful long weekend!!!
We began the day having French with Mlle.
Jessica.
We then dove into math. We learned about fact families and how using fact families
can help us when adding and subtracting. We first did a problem together as a
class. We needed to come up with an addition and subtraction story for the same
problem. Once we were done, we noticed that all three numbers that were used
stayed the same (6+8=14; 14-8=6). We then figured out the other two ways we
could have showed this problem (8+6=14;14-6=8). We came to understand that when
building a fact family, all three numbers need to stay the same. For example:
6+7=13
7+6=13
13-7=6
13-6=7
As a result, if we know that 6+7=13
we also know that 13-7=6.
We then showed our understanding in
our math books.
Next, we had physical education
with Mr. H.
When students returned, they
continued working on building fact families.
After first recess and lunch, we
began our Life Cycles presentations. Ms. Jaskolka is very impressed with all
the efforts each student has put into this project. She reminds all her students
that it is very important to practice before every presentation so that you
understand all of your information and that you are confident when presenting.
Practicing will build your confidence when presenting. We will continue our
presentations tomorrow.
Following second recess and lunch,
we worked on our unit 5 spelling words.
Homework:
1. Read for 20 minutes
2. Spelling pg. 21-24
3. Movie Night tickets due Friday
4. Cursive pg. 24-25
