Tremendous Thursday!
We began the day having French with Mlle.
Jessica.
After, we learned about adding two digit numbers. When adding two digit
numbers, we need to make sure to begin with the ones column. When adding, if
the sum of the numbers in the ones column equal 9 or more, we need to make sure
to carry over.

Students then practiced
adding two digit numbers.
Next, we had physical
education with Mr. H.
When students returned,
they continued working on two digit addition activities.
Following first recess and
lunch, we practiced drawing what we see. Next week we will be using our
cultural artifacts to draw what we see; so today we practiced doing so with a Kleenex
box. We did our best to draw the Kleenex box as a 3-Dimensional object.
We then joined Ms. Baimas’
class and reviewed what we learned about Kwanzaa. We then had the opportunity to
make a ‘mkeka’ or a woven mat. A ‘mkeka’ is a mat which the symbols of Kwanzaa
are placed. We were able to practice some of the principles of Kwanzaa while
doing so: Unity, Creativity and Cooperative Work.
After second recess and
lunch, we worked on a reading comprehension activity related to our current
unit of inquiry. We are inquiry into various holidays and traditions celebrated
around the world; we read a passage that explained how birthdays are celebrated
in China, Russia, India, and Mexico. We then reviewed our answers as a class.
