Marvelous Monday!!!

We began the day having a fun hopscotch race!!!! We all had so much fun cheering on our teammates!!!!

We then moved onto math. 

We then moved onto math. We first worked together to complete our mental math activity. We were able to do it in 02 minutes and 04 seconds!!!! 

 Next we practiced representing numbers using a place value mat and adding two numbers together. Any time we filled up a ten frame, we crossed it out and traded it for one ten stick. We practiced trading using a place value mat as a group. We then looked at different equations and figured out whether or not we needed to trade. We learned that looking at the ones column will help us know whether or not we need to trade. For example 42+42 – looking at the ones column 2+2 is 4 and therefore we will not need to trade; 45+47 – looking at the ones column 7+5 is 12 and therefore we will need to trade 10 ones for 1 ten stick. Now we know that when adding two digits numbers we can look at the ones column and see if the two numbers add to 10 or more, if they do, we will need to trade.

We then showed our understanding in our math books.
