Tuesday March 3, 2020

Our next extra-curricular activity is skiing/snowboarding at Glen Eden Ski Resort. Our next trip is Tomorrow. We will be leaving at 7:00 AM and returning by 4:00 PM at the latest. All rentals are included, however students are more than welcome to bring their own. Please do not order hot lunch for these days as we will be eating lunch at the ski hill – students are welcome to bring money to purchase food and drink items. Students must ensure they are dressed in appropriate ski gear; warm socks, long johns with comfy clothes, snow pants, warm mitts, a face protector (if possible) and a ski jacket. Please note that if students chose skiing, they will ski all three times. If students pick snowboarding, they will snowboard all three times. All students will have to pass each level before they are granted permission to ski on the big hill, no matter what their experience.

Until next Wednesday, the student council is selling Rafiki bracelets.

We began the day with a fun story telling house game!!!

Next we wrote our math test/worked on our game as our summative project.

Then we began talking about exhibition, which we will start working on after the March Break. Today we examined the essential elements related to exhibition; parent, mentor, teacher, student roles as well as the theme that exhibition falls under:

Who we are

An inquiry into the nature of the self; beliefs and values; personal, physical, mental, social and spiritual health; human relationships including families, friends, communities, and cultures; rights and responsibilities; what it means to be human.

After first recess and lunch we had French.

Then we had our Ambassador’s Tea Party!

The purpose of the tea party: to allow ambassadors of developing countries to meet and exchange information about our developing country’s needs and resources with other ambassadors of developing countries. Issues of concern were discovered and discussed as it related to our own country and as global ambassadors. We expressed the needs as well as what our country has to offer. We made as many connections as possible and traded many items such as natural resources that other countries did not have or had very little of. We had so much fun sharing our learning during our Ambassador’s tea party with Mrs. Haag’s and Mr. Conte's class!!!

After second lunch, students considered issues that we face locally (but possibly globally too) that are related to this theme or aspects of this theme. They brainstormed possible issues as a group. Students are asked to further generate ideas by researching issues in the news and by talking to their parents. The issues should be worth learning about in depth and should be actionable. We will discuss further ideas in class on Thursday.
