Japan Poster
Students will bring in two pictures representing Japan in the following areas (For each area, students are to bring in at leasttwo pictures, so at least 12 pictures all together):
o Food, shelter, transportation, shelter, clothing, and other important information.
We will use these pictures on Friday to create a travel poster on construction paper.
We began the day having French with Mdm. Stella.
We then came to class and wrote a math preassessment to see
what we already know about our upcoming unit Number Relationships.
After, we wrote a postcard from Venice! We pretended that each
one of us was visiting Venice and we were writing a postcard to a friend at
home. We let them know how much fun we are having and all of the different
kinds of food, transportation, shelter, and any other information we thought
they would like to know. After, we drew a picture on our postcard showing us
having so much fun in Venice!
We then had Art with Ms. Kerr.
After first recess and lunch we had physical education with
Ms. Lovan.
When students returned, we continued working on our
postcards.
We then finished working on the maps that we made last week.
We chose one of the following topics: favourite park, a treasure map, our
neighbourhood, or our bedroom. We ensured that we labeled each part of our map
and that others could easily understand it.
At the end of the day we summarized chapter 2 of chocolate fever
and then we read chapter 3 as a class. Henry got brown spots all over him, and
Mrs. Kimmelfarber brought Henry to another teacher, Mr. Pangolas to try and
figure out what was wrong with Henry. Neither of them knew what the brown spots
represented but Mr. Pangolas did smell chocolate. Henry became really sad
because he did not know what was wrong with him.
We then wrote a letter from Mrs. Kimmelfarber to Mrs. Green
(Henry’s mom) explaining what she thinks is going on with Henry.
