Wonderful
Wednesday!
We began the day
having French with Mdm. Stella.
When we returned,
we dove into patterning. We learned how to identify the pattern core and to create
patterns with two attributes. We first reviewed the four attributes we have
been learning about (colour, size, shape, and direction). Ms. Jaskolka then did
some examples on the board and we needed to figure out the attributes and
pattern core (the part of the pattern that repeats). Students then
created their own patterns using two attributes. After, they made a different
pattern using the same attributes and then explained how they are the same and
different. When we were finished, we completed any unfinished work.
After first recess and lunch, we had UOI. We learned
how to identify the continents and oceans. We learned that continents are main
land areas on the earth. Some are joined to each other, and some are completely
surrounded by water. We then made a list of the seven continents. After we
looked at a big puzzle map that was broken apart by the continents. We worked
together to figure out the name of each continent. We then learned a fun son to
remember the 7 continents! Here we are:
We then looked at a map and explored the 5 oceans. We
also learned a fun song to remember them all! Here we are:
After, we began colouring a map of the world, identifying the continents
and oceans.
Before recess, we worked on a writing
pre-assessment to help Ms. Jaskolka plan out our writing lessons for the term.
After lunch, we learned
about nouns. We now know that nouns are a person, place, or thing. Students
then had the choice to identify nouns by colouring them (blue- person,
green-thing, place-yellow) or work in partners and place them in a chart.
At the end of the
day, Ronit presented his All about Me bag. He did a great job!
Have a great night!
