Wonderful
Wednesday!!
We
began the day practicing writing a letter and recount. Our topic: Ms. Jaskolka
was away yesterday and she wants to know all about our fun day! So we wrote a
letter to her letting her know! We ensured to use the proper letter format and
to use transition words within our recount.
Next
we had French and then gym.
After
first recess and lunch we continued working on our letter from this morning.
Next
we continued working on our math reviews to prepare for our test tomorrow.
After
second recess and lunch we moved onto UOI. We
continued to explore migration and the reasons that people migrate from one
country to another. We first read a book titled Migrant and we followed
the story of a girl named Anna who wished that she was like a tree and could
stay rooted in one place but instead she was like a bird moving back and forth
between her home country and Canada. We learned that her family needed to make
the journey to Canada so that they could make more money and then they would go
home for fall and winter where there were not as many job opportunities. After
our discussion about this book we worked in groups to come up with the many
reasons people choose to migrate. We then worked as a class to organize the
many push and pull factors we came up with. We started to see a pattern and
managed to classify the push and pull factors under four categories:
environmental, social, political and economy. We will continued exploring these
four factors tomorrow.
Homework:
1. Read for 20 minutes
2. Math test tomorrow
3. Math Review due tomorrow
