Wonderful Wednesday!
Action
Stars:
Teni and Dolapo looked at a cereal that said it smells like
cinnamon (wake up and smell the cinnamon) but they looked at the ingredients
and saw no cinnamon was actually in the cereal. Great job practicing Media
Literacy Teni and Dolapo!
Polar Expressions:
These are optional. Students also have the option
to choose between creating a short story or a poem. If you are submitting your
son/daughters work on your own, they are due November 28th. If you would like
me to submit them, please bring them in by November 18th.
Remembrance Day:
On November 7, the student council is having a
contest. Students from each grade are to recite a part from the poem “In
Flanders Field.” The top two students from each grade will be chosen to recite
the poem in front of the school and also get the chance to win house points.
Students have the choice if they want to participate in this contest. I have
highlighted the part that is to be memorized.
We began the day reading the final chapter of
Flat Stanley’s Japanese Ninja Surprise. It was finally time for Stanley to go
back home with his family but before he did, Oda Nobu gave him and his family a
tour around Tokyo. When Stanley returned home, he received a letter and picture
from Oda Nobu. Stanley learns that Oda Nobu is now taking classes to learn karate.
Students then wrote one sentence to explain what happened in the beginning,
middle and end of the chapter.
Students were then went off to physical
education with Ms. Lovan.
When students returned, they practiced their
television commercials and then performed them. All their hard work paid off!
Here are Saanvi and Dolapo:
I am trying to upload the video of Teni,
Klara, and Wahkeen but it is not working. I will keep trying.
In math, we reviewed what the different hands
on the clock represent and how they affect one another. Students then come up
with three activities that they thought would take a minute and then were timed
to see if it actually took a minute, less, or more. Students also completed a
page in their math books, deciding if certain activities take days, hours,
minutes or seconds to measurre. An example: Blowing a bubble takes seconds
to measure.
After first recess and lunch, students had
French.
When students returned they wrote their
homework in their agendas and completed the rough copy of their letter to
themselves.
During recess, students recited the Guy Fawkes
Poem and those who had the first and last part memorized received house points.
After second lunch, students worked on the
good copy of their letters. Those students who were finished, continued working
on their poppies from Monday.
Homework:
1. Read for 20 minutes
2. Polar Expression due November 18
