Terrific Thursday!
Polar Expressions:
These are optional. Students also have the option
to choose between creating a short story or a poem. If you are submitting your
son/daughters work on your own, they are due November 28th. If you would like
me to submit them, please bring them in by November 18th.
Remembrance Day:
On November 7, the student council is having a
contest. Students from each grade are to recite a part from the poem “In Flanders
Field.” The top two students from each grade will be chosen to recite the poem
in front of the school and also get the chance to win house points. Students
have the choice if they want to participate in this contest. I have highlighted
the part that is to be memorized.
We began the day have Art with Mr. Monaghan and physical education with Ms. Jaskolka and Ms. DaCosta.
Afterwards, students created their own advertisement for a
teddy bear. We first looked at three print advertisements to help us know the
best way to persuade someone to buy the bear. We also learned that
Sometimes we are being told what to do:
When making our advertisements, we kept in mind the
techniques we are going to use, the purpose of our advertisement, and the
message.
In math, we created clocks so they can help us understand
time better.
After first recess and lunch we had French. When students
returned, they wrote their homework in their agendas and then completed
unfinished work from the week.
During second lunch we practiced our 2 and 3 times table.
Watch us do the 2:
After second recess and lunch, we completed our letters to
ourselves; we finished our advertisements from this morning; we drew pictures
of ourselves for our letters; we completed our poppies; we worked in our cursive
books. We had a great catch up period!
