Fabulous Friday!
Message from Ms.
Jaskolka:
I want to thank my wonderful class for working so hard this
week! I am impressed with all the hard work and determination students have put
forth towards their math test, Trinidad project, and Bridges! Keep up the
fantastic job grade 2’s!
We began the day with the communicator awards handed out and
with an exciting house game.
I will post these pictures later on tonight.
I will post these pictures later on tonight.
After, we wrote our spelling test and then our homework in
our agendas.
We were then off to Art.
In Math, we began our new unit: Data Management and Probability.
In this unit students will play various games and complete different activities
where they will predict whether an event is certain, likely, unlikely, or
impossible to occur. We recited a chant from our math books that explains a
game called “Race to Ten.” After discussing the rules we played this game
individually. We used 10 cubes of one colour and 5 cubes of another colour.
Students picked out cubes one by one out of a bag. Students realized that it is
more likely that the 10 cubes would
win the race to ten because they were more of them. Students then filled out
“Race to Ten” questions discussing probability.
After, we continued working on our bridges.
Following second recess and lunch, students continued working on
their bridges.
