Magnificent Monday!
Please ensure that your child brings their poem back to
school tomorrow, we will be working on them in groups.
We began the day having French with Mdm. Stella.
After, we finished off our Structures unit by writing about
what we learned during this unit. We then filled out a KWL chart about our next
unit of inquiry. Our new unit is about Simple Machines. We wrote what we know
and what to know about Simple Machines. We then watched a video to introduce
simple machines.
We then began our spelling.
After first recess and lunch, students had physical
education with Mr. Slyk.
We then moved onto math. We reviewed what we have learned so
far about probability and then we continued tallying and graphing information.
First we tallied the number of chairs in our class. We then chose two more
items to tally in our classroom. After, we did an activity counting fish in a
tank. We tallied the striped, spotted, and fish with whiskers. We then showed
this information on a bar graph. On our bar graph, we needed to ensure to
include the title (counting fish), labels (stripes, spots, whiskers), and that
we counted accurately. We then made one true statement about our graph (ex:
There are more striped fish than spotted fish in the tank).
When students were finished, they continued working on
Spelling.
After second recess and lunch, students continued working on
their Spelling.
When finished, students worked on a text to self activity
related to Freckle Juice. Students wrote and drew a picture about a time that
they were jealous of someone else, just like Andrew is jealous of Nicky Lane
because of his freckles.
When students were finished, they had some time to work on
their cursive.
