Magnificent Monday!
We will also be having
our next math test on Thursday.
Attention all parents and students:
We are having our Spring Fundraiser to raise funds to support our Science and
Physical Education Program! There will be a variety of exciting EVENTS with a
number of amazing PRIZES for students to win through their participation!
Some of the big events to make note
of for THIS week are:
April 19th:
Pancake Breakfast
April 21st: Sundae Fun
Day!
April 22: SJA Dance Party with
Delicious Treats!!!
What an exciting week!!
Furthermore,
A Pledge form went home in efforts
to renovate the school’s science lab and PE program. We kindly ask that all
donations be turned in by Thursday, April 28th, 2016. All students
who collect a minimum donation amount of $35.00 will be treated to a bowling
party on April 29th!
Prizes can also be won for students
who raise money! Grand prizes include a movie and pizza party; this is for the
class that raises the most money!
We began the day writing our homework in
our agendas and then our spelling words for the week.
We then had physical education with Mr.
Slyk.
We then continued our measurement unit.
Students found four objects to measure. Students used their ruler to measure
each object. Students then graphed their information and then listed their
objects from shortest to longest. Students then continued practicing using
their rulers, ensuring to start at 0.
After first recess and lunch, we dove into
our new UOI unit. We will be learning about how we can help protect and save
our planet. We will learn various ways we can reuse, reduce, and recycle. We
will explore conservation strategies such as using less electricity and water.
We also read a book about Earth day (April 22) and then did a brainstorm about
ways we can help our planet.
Students then worked on their unit 26
Spelling words.
After second recess and lunch we read
chapter 5 of Flat Stanley’s Ninja
Surprise. Oda Nubu wanted to show Stanley that he was sorry for using him
as a party trick by taking a trip around Japan together. They both went on a
bullet train where they had a serious conversation about Oda Nobu. He admitted
that he does not really know karate, even though in his movies he comes across
as a karate master. He told Stanley that he has a stunt double who does all his
action scenes. As a child, he really wanted to be a karate master but instead
he became an actor. He went on to say that an actor is what he is but now who
he is. He went on to that being thin is what Stanley is but not who is, which
is a creative, funny, and unique child.
