Wonderful Wednesday!
Attention all parents and students:
We are having our Spring Fundraiser to raise funds to support our Science and Physical
Education Program! There will be a variety of exciting EVENTS with a number of
amazing PRIZES for students to win through their participation!
Some of the big events to make note
of for THIS week are:
April 29: Bowling Party!!!
What an exciting week!!!!
Furthermore,
A Pledge form went home in efforts
to renovate the school’s science lab and PE program. We kindly ask that all
donations be turned in by Thursday, April 28th, 2016. All
students who collect a minimum donation amount of $35.00 will
be treated to a bowling party on April 29th!
Prizes can also be won for students
who raise money! Grand prizes include a movie and pizza party; this is for the
class that raises the most money!
We began the day writing our homework in
our agendas and then students discussed the various action associated with our
current unit of inquiry:
Actions Stars:
Joshua
planted some apple seeds
Maya planted
flowers AND picked up garbage
Karina planted
a garden
We then had a
conversation about how important gardens are. If we grow our own fruits and
vegetables, we will not need to waste gasoline going to the store and also we
will save on packaging (ex: plastic and Styrofoam). When we plant flowers, we
are ensuring that bees have the food that they need. This then lead to a
discussion about how important bees and wasps are.
Here are ten
important facts about bees:

A lot of us thought that bees and wasps do
not have very important jobs but they actually do!!! So we need to help protect
them! So planting gardens with flowers is an excellent way to show action
because we are helping save the bees and wasps!!!
Lots of inquiry came out of our conversations this morning!!
We then had physical education with Mr.
Slyk.
When students returned, we learned more
about the various ways we can conserve water and electricity. We watched a fun
video about conserving water:
We also looked through some books about
water conservation. We learned that it is SO important to protect our water!!!!
There is tons of water in oceans, lakes, and rivers but we can only drink and
use 1 percent of that water!!! As a result, we need to make sure to keep our
water clean and that we are saving as much water as we can!!
We also read some tips about conserving electricity.
When we conserve electricity we are helping the environment AND helping our
parents pay less for electricity!
Here are some energy saving tips:

We discussed the various ways that we learned that we con conserve water and electricity.
After first recess and lunch, we worked on
the good copy of our recount.
