Fantastic Friday!!

We began the day coming up with a house song. We then played music chairs as our house game!!

When we came back to class. Mr. Nahi had a special delivery for us. Mr. Nahi and Ms. Jaskolka were unsure where the package came from and who would have sent us a package.

We began predicting what could be in the package. After a while, we noticed that on the box it said LIVE SPECIMAN. We started a discussion about what that means. We came to the conclusion that it means something alive is inside the package. Our predications began to change. We thought maybe it could be a dog or a rabbit but then we thought that whatever was inside was not moving. Some of us thought whatever was inside could be sleeping, since the box was not moving. Slowly we began opening the box, being really careful just in case anything would jump out at as!! Finally we found caterpillars in the box!!!  We wondered why we received this amazing gift! We came to the conclusion that we are learning about animal life cycles in our current unit of inquiry so maybe this is why someone sent us these caterpillars. Over the next few weeks, we will have the opportunity to watch the caterpillars grow and eventually turn into a butterfly!!!

We then delved deeper into a discussion about our current unit of inquiry. We used the IB board to discuss the unit of inquiry (How the world works), the title (Life Cycles), the central idea, key concepts, and lines of inquiry.

After this discussion, we wrote down one question that we have about animals and their life cycle; we will explore the answer to these questions during our inquiry over the next few weeks.

What an exciting morning!!!

We then had physical education with Mr. H

After first recess and lunch, we made booklets so that we will be able to track the growth of the caterpillars.

We then had music.

We spent the rest of the afternoon presenting our “All about me” bags. We learned so much about all our friends in our class!! It was so nice to get to know you all a little better!!
