Fantastic Friday!
We began the day writing our unit 7
spelling test.
We then had French and then Gym.
After first recess and lunch we
practiced two-digit subtraction as a class.
Then we had Music.
When we returned, we learned how to
subtract three digit numbers!!
We practiced some questions as a
class and then we trained our brain!!!!
We began working on three digit subtraction problems.
Following second recess and lunch
we began learning about why people move
from one country to another and how they feel. As a class we discussed even
though some of us may have been born in Canada, our families have all migrated
from another country. We informed each other where our families came from and
some of us explained why our families left our home country. Then we watched a
video about push and pull factors to gain a better understanding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nai-Rjg7QF4. We then
discussed the reasons people may leave their country and come to Canada. Next
we watched a video about a 7-year-old girl from Syria, Malak, who needed to
leave her country to live a safer life. We practiced the attitudes of empathy
and appreciation when learning how a girl that is our age or close to our age
was a risk taker and went on an unsafe boat with her family and friends to travel
over to a safer country but throughout this journey she was the only one to
survive. We empathized with how scared and lonely she must have felt and
appreciated that we are living in a safe country where we are happy and
surrounded by love.
Since we have been working so hard,
we had some time to play outside at the end of the say!
Have a wonderful weekend!
