Wonderful Wednesday!!!

We have some action stars today!!!! Julia, Emily, Khaliya decided to pick up garbage using gloves in our playground! What great citizens!!!! 

We began the day talking about our day yesterday. Ms. Jaskolka needed to go see the doctor again for her finger!! We then discussed our friend Fatima and writing a letter to convince her to come to our school because our school is the best!!! We discussed the important parts of a letter that we need to ensure to include.

Dear Fatima,

We begin with an opening sentence:

(indent-space) I am so excited that you will come to my school in December!

Topic Sentence: I want to let you know why St. Jude’s Academy is the best school!!!

We included 3 body sentences. In each sentence we wrote about something wonderful about our school and explained why. We reminded ourselves that the way to add detail to our sentences is to answer who, what, where, when, why, how.

At the end of our letter we ensured to add a closing sentence and our signature.

Here are some examples:

We then went to French and then gym.

After first recess and lunch we reviewed how to add two digit numbers using a place value mat and the standard algorithm.  We understood this concept so well that we moved onto adding two digit numbers that involve carrying over the 1 into the tens column.

We first worked on some questions as a class and then in groups of three.

After second recess and lunch we finished working on our letters to Fatima.
