Terrific Tuesday!

We began the day writing our Ontario Writing Assessments.

After we had physical education with Ms. Lovan.

We then went over to Ms. DaCosta’s class to do an experiment measuring mass. We looked at a stapler and white board eraser and determined that the stapler is heavier, but we figured out that we could actually determine which one is heavier using a scale. We looked at four objects: white board eraser, scissors, marker and a little plastic teddy bear. We made predictions about which one we thought is the heaviest and the lightest. We then did the experiment together and found out that the little plastic teddy bear was the lightest and the white board eraser was the heaviest.  We did another experiment using tape, a glue stick, a crayon, and a sharpener. We made our predictions and then found out that the tape was the heaviest and the crayon was the lightest. We then decided if we thought a calculator would be the lightest, somewhere in between, or the heaviest of all four objects. We found out that it fell in between the glue stick and sharpener.

During UOI, we used our graphic organizers to write a letter to a friend about why it is so important to conserve water.

After first recess and lunch, we had French. When students returned, they completed unfinished work.

After second recess and lunch, we read chapters 7,8, and 9 of Chocolate Fever. So much has happened! Henry found himself in a schoolyard with a bunch of boys who were not very nice to him. He let them know he had Chocolate Fever and they should not bother him. While walking along the highway, Henry met Mac and came unto his truck. After speaking with Mac, Henry realized that it was not right to run away, especially from his parents who love him so much. When Henry was going to call his parents, two robbers came onto the truck! They thought that Mac had expensive fur on his truck but all he had were chocolate bars! The robbers were not happy and do not know what to do! When finished reading chapter 9, we completed a fact and opinion sheet where we were given various statements from Chocolate Fever and we needed to decide if they were Facts or Opinions.
