Wonderful Wednesday!
We began the day practicing for Art’s night with Ms.
DaCosta’s class.
After, we had physical education with Ms. Lovan.
When student’s returned, we began our new unit in Math:
Multiplication, Division, and Fractions. We began with multiplication. We first
discussed all the ways that we know how to skip count (2, 3, 5, 10, 25). We
then worked through various questions together. Ms. Jaskolka drew groups of
circles on the board and we needed to figure out the addition and
multiplication sentence (ex: 6 groups of 2 circle; 2+2+2+2+2+2=12; 2x6=12). We
then filled in patterns of 2, 5, and our own a hundred’s chart. After, we looked
at various pictures and we needed to figure out the addition and multiplication
sentence. We then used cubes to do the same.
When we were finished, we read A Bad case of stripes about
Camilla Cream. Camilla was a little girl who one day got rainbow stripes all
over her skin! As the days passed, her skin had many different designs on it
and eventually she became her room! A nice elderly lady came by and gave
Camilla some lima beans (her favourite food that she chose not to eat because
she thought others would make fun of her for it) and she became better! We
learned that it is ok to be different and to have our own opinions. We should
not worry about being made fun of for our unique interests. We should always be
true to ourselves and know that our differences are what make us special!
After first recess and lunch, we wrote our homework in our
agendas and then went to watch the Grade 10 personal projects.
After second recess and lunch, we worked on a Venn diagram
where we wrote out the similarities and differences between Henry (from
Chocolate Fever) and Camilla (from A Bad Case of Stripes). We then discussed
them as a class.
At the end of the day, we practiced for Art’s night.
