Tremendous Thursday!!
***Please note the change for the
Japan poster pictures:
Japan
Poster
Students will bring in two
pictures representing Japan in the following areas (For each area,
students are to bring in at least two pictures, so at least 12
pictures all together):
o Food,
shelter, transportation, recreation, clothing, and other important information.
We will use these pictures
tomorrow to create a travel poster on construction paper.
We began the day having French with Mdm. Stella.
We then began exploring India. We were put into partners
again and we read over information about food, shelter, leisure, clothing,
transportation and other facts about India. We used a graphic organizer to plot
all our information.
After, we had Art with Ms. Kerr.
When students returned, we looked into Japan and India in
more depth. We first plotted them on our world maps and talked about how their
geographic location would affect many factors. We then discussed our
information from our graphic organizers and looked at pictures pertaining to
food, shelter, transportation, clothing, and leisure in both countries. It
helped the students not only to read about the information but also to see
pictures so they could visually understand the information.
After, we learned about estimating
in math. We looked at a big picture of a squirrel collecting nuts for the
winter. We first estimated how many we thought there were and then we counted
by 5’s to see if we were correct. Next, we were given either counters or
counting cubes and estimated how many there were and then counted the items by
grouping them. We were counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s today.
Following second recess and lunch,
we continued to practice proper sentence writing. We learned about telling and
asking sentences. After we learned how we could bring two short sentences
together using the word and.
After we wrote our homework in our
agendas and packed up.
