Tremendous Thursday!!
We began the day sharing the different ways
we have learned how to say hello in different languages. Ask us! We are so knowledgeable
about how to say ‘hello’ from all over the world!
We then moved onto math. First we discussed
what we have learned about measuring and about the different ways we can
measure using standard and non-standard units of measurement. We then had some
fun using our rulers! We measured four objects using ruler. We measured a
popsicle stick, an eraser, a paperclip and our shoe. We than compared our
measurements. After, Ms. Jaskolka gave us another measuring challenge!
Next we were off to gym.
When we returned, we continued working on
our measuring activities.
Following first recess and lunch we had Music.
When we returned, we formed a feeling
circle. We had one friend in the middle who represented Mustafa and we all took
turns expressing how we thought Mustafa felt throughout his journey.
Then Ms. Baimas wanted us to hurry over to
her class because she had some important information about Mustafa!!! She was
given four links that helped uncover our mystery!!! We watched four videos
about Mustafa and his journey from Syria, to Greece, to Germany and finally New
York City!!! He now speaks for UNICEF in hopes to help children all over the
world who are displaced and forced to leave their homes in search for safety.
We were so happy to hear that all the documents that we found have already been
replaced and that Mustafa is safe and happy!!
After second recess and lunch, we completed
our mystery jacket booklets with the new information that we learned. We also
finished up working on our futuristic vehicles.
What a very busy and exciting day!!
