Magnificent Monday!

We began the day having French with Mlle. Jessica.

During math, first we worked on our mental math skills involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Then we discussed all the different ways that we can skip count and used this as an introduction into multiplication: we learned that multiplication is skip counting and repeated addition. We first used a hundred’s chart to explore patters of 2, 5, and then our own choice. After we worked together to understand multiplication as repeated addition. We found out that when we solve and write “groups of” questions we are using multiplication and there is a special way we can write it

o   4+4+4+4+4+4 = 24

o   6 groups of 4’s make 24

o   6 x 4 = 24 (the x symbol means “groups of”)

We showed our understanding of multiplication in our math books.

Next we had gym.

When we returned, we continued working on our math.                   

After first recess and lunch we practiced for Art’s Night.

Before lunch we visited Mr. Iqbal's who teaches the MYP students. The students have been observing the evolution of the chicks and their eggs; we were able to visit the chicks and ask Mr. Iqbal some questions!

After second recess and lunch we worked on our spelling words and read chapter 19 of The Borrowers.

Arnav also shared some action!! He researched about the Giant Panda and shared some interesting information!!

Jordan is taking home Cuddly today. Have fun!!
