**Parents we need more Lysol wipes so we can clean the tables in our classroom please

**The Christmas concert is quickly approaching!

Marvelous Monday!

We began the day doing a Spelling review for Lessons 7-11. We will have a Spelling test on Friday. Ms. Jaskolka will pick 11 words from Lessons 7-11.

Ms. Lovan was away today so we continued working on our coin packages. Then we began learning a poem for each coin to help us remember what they look like, their name, and how much they are each worth. After we were given pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters and we each needed to figure out how much we were given. We counted by 1s, 5s, 10s, and 25. Then we needed to figure out what coins we would use to buy various items using pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. Students then demonstrated heir knowledge in their Math Makes Sense book.

During UOI, we reviewed the video we watched last class about structures. We learned that buildings are made with steel beams to support them and that these beams need to be strong. We also discussed the various questions architects ask before designing a structure such as: what is the purpose/function of the structure (what will the structure be used for); how big of an area is needed for the structure. After, Students were given a picture of a structure and they need to figure out the purpose/function for their structure as well as explain it to the class.

Then we completed a sheet where we needed to figure out what was the purpose/function of an object.

****Students were given an assignment to finish for Friday, December 5, 2014:
Structure Information

Students will bring in a photo of a structure they are familiar with. They will research information about their structure, including the materials used to build it, it’s location and it’s function (what an object is used for). Students will present their structure to the class on Friday, December 5, 2014.

After first recess and lunch, students had French.

When students returned, they wrote their homework in their agendas. Students were then given coin problems to figure out.

After second recess and lunch, students chose one thing they worked their best on, hardest on, and something they want to improve on and put them in their IB binders.

Then for art, students became the illustrator for Jeff Brown’s Japanese Ninja Surprise and created a cover for his book. We needed to make sure to include the title, the author’s name, and then our name as the illustrator. We also needed to make sure to include a picture that would grab other people’s attention so they will want to read the book. We will continue working on them tomorrow.
