Tremendous Thursday!
**Art Reach forms went home today. They are due December 8.
We will learn from actual artists during this workshop!!
** Caroling Club will be going out
on their first event tomorrow. Please ensure the students are dressed warm.
We began the day having art with Mr. Monaghan and physical
education with Ms. Lovan.
When students returned, we inquired into the strength of
various objects. First we made predictions and decided which object was the
strongest and the weakest; we used paper, stir sticks, straws, and cardboard.
After, we put pennies on each object to see if our predictions were correct. We learned that the paper was the weakest and the cardboard was the strongest.
In doing this experiment we determined the importance of having a strong foundation for structures.

In math, Ms. Jaskolka read us a story about three students who found 50 cents on the way to school. The students gave the money to the principle who could not find who the money belonged to, so he gave the money back to the students to share. Students needed to think creatively and figure out how the three students could split up the 50 cents in a fair way.
After first recess and lunch, we had French.
Afterwards, we completed unfinished work.
After second recess and lunch, we continued working on our
Flat Stanley kite from yesterday. We have been working on the rough copy of our
kite. The kite is
split into four sections:
1. We described one character
from the book using at least three sentences.
2. We illustrated our
favourite part of the book.
3. We retold the book using
First, Next, Then and Last.
4. We also explained our
opinion of the book ensuring to give reasons for our opinion. When we were
finished our rough copies we moved on to our good copies. We will continue
working on these tomorrow.
