Tremendous
Tuesday!
I wanted to let parents know
that my camera is broken so I cannot take pictures. My MacBook takes pictures
but the words end up backwards. I will be posting videos instead of the
students explaining their learning.
For the Christmas concert,
students are able to come up with their own villain costumes or come dressed in
jeans and a red or green shirt. Students without a costume will be given a big
E to tape on their shirt to represent evil.
We began the day
making our own Flat Stanley that we will be using for a special project in the
new year. Students will be sending over their Flat Stanley’s to students in
another country. A letter will be going home explaining this activity.
After, students
had physical education with Ms. Lovan.
When students
returned, they had their unit 3 math test.
Afterwards, we
discussed man made and natural made items. We discussed how people made a pen,
table, pencil, and chair. We determined that some man made products can be made
in factories by machines. These items would not exist if people did not make
them. We came to the conclusion that natural made objects would therefore exist
even if people did not exist such as trees, grass, water etc. Students recorded
the definitions of natural and man made definition in their Structures and
Materials glossary:
o
Natural made: Items that would still exist
if people didn’t exist
o
Man made: things that would not exist if humans never did
Students then
completed a worksheet where they needed to decide if an object was man made or
natural made.
After first recess
and lunch, students had French.
After French,
students wrote their homework in their agendas and then completed unfinished
work from the morning.
After second
recess and lunch, we thought back to our media unit and discussed ways to make
a poster. We did a poster for a Bake Sale as a class and determined what we
need to ensure to include on a poster: topic, date, location, address, contact,
batwphone number, prices. We then created our own poster in our Ontario Writing
books. We will continue working on these tomorrow.
Homework:
- Read for 20 minutes
- Return last page of report card with parent comments
- Lunch forms due Dec 12
- Practise Christmas concert script
