Terrific Tuesday!
We began the day having French with Mdm. Stella.
After, we did our first science experiment! We made
predictions about how much we would be able to stretch each gummy worm and then
we checked to see if we were right. We stretched a gummy worm in room
temperature, cold ice water, hot water, and warmed in hands.
We then had art with Ms. Kerr.
After first recess and lunch, we had physical education with
Ms. Lovan.
When students returned we combined our math class today with
our second science experiment (we need to ensure to do our experiment 3 times
so that our observations and conclusion is correct); in both we are learning
about temperature. We first made our predictions again, except this time we
predicted how man centimeters each yummy worm would stretch. While we waited 4
minutes (for the gummy worm in hot and cold water), we investigated how to use
a thermometer. We first looked to see how much degrees in was in our class room
(room temperature), we then boiled some water and put the thermometer inside
(it was between 70-80 degrees Celsius!) and then we put the thermometer in ice
cold water and watched the liquid in the thermometer go down.
After, we stretched each gummy worm and noticed how long the
gummy worm could stretch after being warmed in hands!
Here are some pictures of the scientists:
Afterwards, we began making our product for our summative
project for our current UOI unit. We have each chosen something that does not
exist and we have begun drawing it out.
At the end of the day, we had a Remembrance Day assembly. We
learned about the soldiers who risked their lives for our country and about John
Mccrae (who wrote In Flanders Field). We also got a chance to write a letter to
a veteran! We worked in partners to show our appreciation for their
contribution to our country.
Have a great day tomorrow!!
