Wacky Wednesday
I want to remind all of my students that we are in grade
2 and this means that when we come to school, we come ready to learn. When we
are at school, we always try our best and respect our teacher. Ms. Jaskolka
works very hard preparing all of the activities and assignments so that
students can achieve academic success and she expects the students to also work
hard and try their best.

We began the day
having French with Mdm. Stella.
We then moved onto
UOI. We watched three television commercials and we picked one to discuss. We
were given a media booklet and we wrote about important techniques used in the
television commercial, the audience, and purpose.

After, we finished
off our graphic organizers for the donut that we created and then moved onto
our rough copies.
Following first
recess and lunch, students had physical education with Ms. Lovan.
When students
returned, we reviewed how to tell time. We are reminded that when the hour hand
is in between two numbers, the hour is the number that comes before. For
example, when the hour hand is in between 3 and 4, the hour hand has not
reached the four yet, and so the hour is still 3. We also looked at the
differences between an analog and digital clock. After, we worked on a time
package to help us better understand how to tell time.
After, we
continued working on the rough copies of our donut advertisement.
Following second
recess and lunch, we did a retell of chapter 7 and then continued on reading
chapter 8 as a class. Henry was walking along the highway all alone. He ended
up meeting Mac and decided to join him in his truck. Henry was worried if Mac
saw his chocolate spots that Mac would kick him out but he did not mind. Henry
did not want to go back home but Mac reminded him that he has loving parents
who must be so worried about him so they need to call his parents at the next
rest stop. Henry agreed.
After, students
worked on an opinion and fact activity. Students were given statements from the
story and they needed to determine if it was an opinion or a fact.
Homework:
1. Read for 20 minutes
2. 10 pages of time package (most was finished
in class)
3. Practice Guy Fawkes poem for tomorrow
4. Product chosen by November 9
