Wonderful
Wednesday
We began the day having French with Mdm. Stella.
Afterwards, we continued learning about materials and
what objects are made of. Ms. Jaskolka looked around the classroom and told us
the materiel of an object, and then we needed to figure out what the object was.
We then completed a worksheet where we needed to figure out if an object was
made of plastic, wood, or metal. We also looked at different objects and
answered if they were made of glass, wood, feathers, metal, or fabric.
In writing today, we continued on with the
instructions we made for a game. We ensured that our instructions were in
order, that we did not leave out any steps, and that we are using transitional
words.
After first recess and lunch, we had physical
education with Ms. Lovan.
During math we practiced “find ten” and
“near doubles” strategies to help us count three 1 digit numbers.
Find ten example: 7+3+8
7+3 = 10
10 + 8 = 18
7+4+9
-1
7+3 =10
10+9=19+1=20
When we use the find ten strategy, the first two
numbers we use need to reach 10. We use this strategy because it is easier to
add on from 10.
Near doubles:
5+6+4
-1
5+5=10
10+4=14
8+7+5
+1
8+8=16
16+5=21-1=20
We use this strategy to help us count faster.
After second recess and lunch, we wrote our
homework in our agendas and then practiced for the Christmas concert.
Homework:
1. Read for 20 minutes
2. Last page of report card
3. Math pg. 94
4. Lunch form for January due Dec. 16
