Terrific Tuesday!
This morning we began the day reading chapter 6 of Flat Stanley’s The Japanese Ninja Surprise. Stanley’s
family has found him in Japan but before they could take him home, four ninja’s
came with a large black cloth and began to put it over all of them; however, we
do not know what happened next! Student’s then predicted what they think will
happen!
Afterwards, students had physical education with Ms. Lovan.
When student’s returned, we began our new unit of inquiry. We were inquiring into the media and the different forms of media we see everyday. We made a brainstorm together on the board:
When student’s returned, we began our new unit of inquiry. We were inquiring into the media and the different forms of media we see everyday. We made a brainstorm together on the board:
We also discussed the purpose of media:
We then spoke about the different techniques that are used
in the media that persuade, entertain and/or inform us:
1. Sound
2. Movement
3. Colour
4. Graphics
We watched a video that used all of these techniques:
Here is an example of the techniques being used in this video:

We
watched a few minutes of the video today and we will watch it again tomorrow
to reinforce the four techniques used in media that we will be focusing on
during our unit of inquiry.
During math, we used a hundreds chart to help us find
missing numbers. We were counting by 10s, 5s, and 2s to figure out what number
Ms. Jaskolka was thinking of. We figured out when looking at the hundreds
chart, we can count by tens by going down one column. After exploring the
hundreds chart together, students completed 2 pages in their Math Makes Sense.
After first recess and lunch, students had French.
When students returned, they wrote their homework in their
agenda and then completed any unfinished work.
After second recess and lunch, students completed a review
of lessons 1-5:
Then we made ninjas, like in Flat Stanley, during visual arts.
This week we are reviewing the words from lessons 1-5. No
words are going home this week. Instead, students will be tested on 10 random
words on Friday.
Then we made ninjas, like in Flat Stanley, during visual arts.
