****Tomorrow is Casual Day
We began the day writing a letter to Flat Stanley telling
him how he should save Oda Nobu from the ninjas. We made sure to include all
the important parts of a letter. Dolapo lets us know what those important parts
are in the video below. We then read chapter 8. Arthur was holding Flat Stanley
folded up like an origami ninja star and threw Stanley at Oda Nobu. We learned
that the ninjas that took Odu Nobu were actually four young girls who were fans
of Oda Nobu! They got in big trouble from Oda Nobu and their parents.
Next students had physical education with Ms. Lovan.
When students returned, we did our math test. Afterwards, we
explored how important it is to know media literacy. We played a game where we
did an advertisement investigation to make sure we know what kind of product we
are buying.
Here is the link:
Teni explains this in the video below. We also made an
advertisement for burp cola to be more aware of the different gimmicks that are
used in them. We first chose a catchy slogan. We chose an image that would grab
people’s attention. We chose where we would see this advertisement as well as
one sentence that would get people to buy our product. Here is the link if the
students want to play this game at home:
After first recess and lunch, students had French.
When students returned they wrote their homework in their
agendas and then we continued reading our book from yesterday, reviewing the
three ways to read a book.
After second recess and lunch, we did a pumpkin writing
activity using adjectives to describe a pumpkin that we would make in visuals
arts. Students worked on their rough copies today. The first sentence
introduced the pumpkin by giving him/her a name. The second sentence described
the colour and size or shape of the pumpkin. The third sentence was all about
the number of teeth the pumpkin has. The forth sentence described the pumpkin
using one word only. The last sentence told how the pumpkin makes us feel.
Doing this activity will help us use more adjectives and describing words when
we are writing.
Wahkeen is working on his verbs. He wrote sentences about a spider using verbs to describe the action that it is doing. He painted the body of his spider today.

Afterwards, students started making the pumpkin that they
described earlier. We will continue making them Thursday.
