Permission forms were sent home today and are due back no later than September 20. There is no cost to this activity.

We began the day with Music with Mr. Oliver.

When we returned, we did our math drills and then reviewed GCF (Greatest Common Factor) and LCM (Lowest Common Multiple). We watched a video to learn about the  ‘ladder’ method to find the GFC or LCM.

We then practiced finding the GFC and LCM as a class.

After first recess and lunch, we had French.

Then Ronit shared action about lightning! Check it out!

We then had a talk about the importance of trying and putting effort into everything that we do, even if it makes us feel nervous. We all make mistakes and we all don't know everything. We have created an environment in our class where we are all working together to learn and understand the material being taught. Ms. Jaskolka is really proud of her students because they have all been working together in all subject areas. We all have strengths and we all have areas we need to work on and we are working together to help each other out. If we make a mistake, that's ok!!! So much learning happens when we make mistakes.

After second recess and lunch, we became familiar with terms and symbols of electrical equipment used in electric circuits. In partners, students read about and recorded the definitions of electronic terms and drew symbols for each one. Students were then given circuit prompts and drew the circuits using the electric circuit symbols learned.

After first recess and lunch we began our novel study for this term: City of Ember. We learned that for our final summative task, we will write a book report. The book report will include a graphic organiser where they record notes about the events from the beginning, middle, and end of the book. They will use this to write a summary. Finally, they will make connections between the book and our current UOI on electricity and reflect on the most important event in the story and whether the characters in the book possess the attributes and attitudes of an IB student. Students were then placed into groups  and completed the City of Ember scavenger hunt. They made predictions about the book by examining the cover.

2. 3 math sheets
3. UOI test Oct. 2
4. Math test Sep. 30
5. French test Friday
