Wonderful Wednesday!
We began the day having art with Mr. Monaghan and physical
education with Ms. Lovan.
We then went to help the Grade 6’s with their Exhibition
project about child labour.
After we had Math. We looked at a folded rectangle in half
and noticed that when it was opened up we could see matching parts; the corners
on opposite sides of the fold line match, opposite lines match. We tried
folding it another way and realized that there are two lines of symmetry; this
means that both sides are identical. We looked at a square, triangle, hexagon,
and octagon and determined whether or not there was none, one, or two lines of symmetry.
We then did the same in our math books. After, we were given a blank paper and
we folded it evenly in half. Next, we draw an image of a figure and then cut it
out and noticed that because we folded the paper in half, the other side will
be identical when we cut it out. Last, we practiced drawing out mirror images
of figures.
After first recess and lunch we had French. After we wrote
our homework in our agendas and then had UOI. Today we learned how to write an acrostic
poem: we write the word vertically and then use each letter to write about the
topic. We wrote an acrostic poem for WATER together and then we wrote our own
for EARTH day in our flip flap books.
After second recess and lunch, we practiced our
advertisements that we have been working on in groups. We will be presenting
them tomorrow.
