Tremendous Tuesday!

We have some Tremendous News!!!

Tomorrow we will be going to the park for Track and Field. Please come dressed in your gym uniform.

We began the day rehearsing for Art’s night with the whole school.

After, we worked on our Multiplication, Division, and Fractions Review. We will be using these to study for our test on Thursday.

After first recess and lunch, we had French. When students returned, they wrote their homework in their agendas. After, we went over to Ms. DacCosta’s class and read a book called Dear Children of the Earth. This book was actually a letter from Mother Earth explaining why it is so important to protect our home and ways that we can do so. Mother Earth told us that as long as we love her, that is enough. If we love her, we will want to protect and help her and as a result keep our home clean and beautiful.

We then had ice cream!!!

After second recess and lunch, we worked on a sheet about being Reflective learners and reflected upon our days and work ethic through out.

2.     Math test Thursday
3.     Summative due Thursday

We began the day with math. We learned about fractions today. We discussed how we would divide an orange in half to share with someone else. We knew we needed to cut it right down the middle to make two exact halves. We talked about dividing lasagna among three friends. This time we would needed to split it into thirds. We then inquired how we would need to split the lasagna if we split it four ways. We found out that we would split it into fourths. We then practiced various ways we can show different fractions. We then showed our understanding in our math books. After we worked on problem solving questions.
There are 13 children lined up for the bumper cars. There are 4 bumper cars. Each bumper car can hold 3 children. Can everyone ride bumper cars at the same time? We explained using pictures, numbers, and words how one child would be left out. We answered similar questions afterwards.

After, we had physical education with Ms. Lovan.

When students returned we continued with Math. We showed our understanding of multiplication, division and fractions answering various problem-solving questions.
Ex: Altogether, 22 people need to fly on the plane. There are 6 rows of seats in each row. There are 4 seats in each row. Can everyone get one the plane?

After first recess and lunch we had French. Afterwards, we wrote our homework in our agendas and then practiced for Art’s night.

Terrific Thursday!

We began the day writing our homework in our agendas. We then practiced for Art’s night with Ms. DaCosta’s class. After we had physical education with Ms. Lovan.

During math we learned about Division. We looked at the big math book and needed to divide 18 cars equally among 3 children. We figured out that each child would get 6 cars. As a class, we were given various questions about how to divide and worked through them together (ex: we have 12 cubes and we are sharing them with 3 children, how much would each child get? Each child would get 4 cubes). We then worked on Division questions in our Math Books. After, Ms. Jaskolka gave use more questions to work on to strengthen our understanding.

After first recess and lunch we had French. After, we did an experiment with Ms Dacosta’s class for UOI. We boiled a kettle and held the plate up to the steam. Students observed evaporation, condensation, and precipitation!!!

After second recess and lunch, we continued working on our fractured art.

At the end of the day, we practiced for Art’s night.
