Magnificent Monday!

We began the day having French with Mdm. Stella.

We then had our Math test for Time, Temperature, and Money.

After, we worked on our Learner Profile for December. We all demonstrated how we can be and are communicators.

Following first recess and lunch, we began our new unit How the world worlds. We will be learning about various structures and how they are made. We first completed a KWL chart about what we already know about structures and what we want to learn. After, we pretended we worked at a store and we needed to organize four shelves using the items we were given. We realized that the items needed to be organized by the materials they were made of: metal, rubber, wood, and fabric. A material is what an object is made of. We will be exploring various materials that structures are made of.

We then worked in our journals writing about Chocolate Fever. We picked our favourite part in the story and explained why we liked this part using detail.

After second recess and lunch, we worked on a review in our Spelling books.

Homework:
1.     Read for 20 minutes
2.     Cursive pg. 46-47
3.     Spelling Review

4.     Lunch forms due Dec. 16

Fantastic Friday!

We began the day having French with Mdm. Stella.

After, we had our unit 11 spelling test.

We were then off to Art with Ms. Kerr.

Following first recess and lunch, students practiced their commercials in groups and then presented them.

Chelsea then came over and presented her commercial about the Automatic Printing Piano!

Great job Chelsea!
After we finished reading Chocolate Fever as a class. Henry finally became cured. He was able to get rid of his Chocolate Fever in two ways:
1.     He had to understand that in life, we cannot always get what we want when we want it
2.     Vanilla pills

Students then completed their Math Reviews.

When students were finished, they worked in their journals. Students wrote about their favourite part in Chocolate Fever and explained why this is their favourite part.

After second recess and lunch, we began practicing for the Christmas Concert. Students were given the lyrics to our song and are asked to practice at home. Here is the melody for our song; it includes the lyrics for “I want a hippopotamus for Christmas” but we are using our own lyrics:

Have a great weekend!

Homework:

2.     Sign Spelling Test
3.     Math Test Monday

Come join us for the Science Fair tomorrow!

Wednesday, November 25, 2015

Wonderful Wednesday!

We began the day having French with Mdm. Stella.

After, we did some work with temperature in order to prepare us better for our test.

We were then off to the auditorium because we had a guest speaker come in today to talk about our Media unit. He let us know that he works in marketing and advertising and then he explained more of what that means. He showed us that without marketing and advertising, products would not get sold because people would not know about them.

He let us know that we know who Shopkins are because of marketing and advertising!
 And Pokemon

Here are the two boys showing us why marketing and advertising is needed; without it, we would not know the product exists.

We watched a commercial for a new apple laptop that had no words, and yet was still very persuasive!

We then looked at high end and low end commercials and talked about the differences that we saw.

We then made our own commercials: we created our product, placement, promotion, and price.

Two groups competed against one another, to see who would come up with the best commercial.

It was a tie! Great job everyone!!

After first recess and lunch, we dove into math. We read a story together and we needed to figure out how to write the different times in the story using an analog and digital clock. We then worked in groups, figuring out how the three students in the story would share 50 cents. After, we reflected upon our unit and wrote about what we have learned.

When we were finished, we continued working on our teddy bear print advertisements.

After second recess and lunch, students wrote their homework in their agendas and then we practiced our presentation for the Science Fair.

Homework:
1.     Read for 20 minutes
2.     Sign summative rubric
3.     Math test next Monday
4.     Math pg. 74
