Tremendous Tuesday!

We began the day reading chapter 2 from Chocolate Fever. We learned that Henry started to get a really strange feeling and we think it will be chocolate fever because of all the chocolate he eats!! We then wrote about a time that we had chocolate fever or ate too much of something and had a strange feeling like Henry.

After, we had physical education with Ms. Lovan.

When students returned, they each read about Easter in a different country, wrote about this holiday, and then taught the class about their country.


After first recess and lunch, students had French. When students returned they wrote their homework in their agendas and then completed any unfinished work.

After second recess and lunch, students completed their Ontario Writing pre assessment.

Homework:
1.     Read for 20 minutes
2.     Cultural Doll project due April 8

We began the day learning about contractions during spelling. We need to make sure that we put the apostrophe in the correct spot so that the word makes sense and is correct.

After, we had physical education with Ms. Lovan.

When students returned we worked on a subtraction question together: Melissa and Naveen went to a museum together. They saw Dr. Rockhound’s collection of 53 rare fossils. Mr. Rockhound said he was going to donate 19 of his fossils to the Museum of Civilization. How many fossils will he have left?
We created a place value mat and put 5 tens in the 10s column and 3 ones in the 1s column. We then borrowed ten from the tens column because we cannot take 9 away from 3. We then subtracted 9 from the ones column. Our next step was to subtract 1 ten from the tens column. Our answer is 34.
We then showed our knowledge in our Math Makes Sense books ensuring to use a place value mat to show our understanding.

During UOI, we learned how Easter is celebrated in Canada. We read about Easter in Canada and filled out a worksheet answering: what treats are brought on this day, who brings treats, what fun things can be done on this holiday etc. We then read a book about Easter to learn more about this holiday and how other countries celebrate this time.

After first recess and lunch we had French. After French, we wrote in our agendas and read some fun books that Ms. Jaskolka got from the Library.

After second recess and lunch, we completed any unfinished work and then continued reading about Easter in other countries.

Fantastic Friday!!

I want to thank my wonderful class for making me presents for my birthday! The cards are very well written and the gifts are so beaitiful and creative! Thank you!

We began the day with our Spelling test and then worked on cursive in our books.

After, we had physical education with Ms. Lovan.

When students returned, they continued two digit subtraction using a place value mat. Students came up with their own questions and had a friend solve it using a place value mat. Students also needed to figure out which questions in their math books would they need to borrow.










After first recess and lunch, students had French. When students returned, they wrote their homework in their agendas and then continued their Work on Writing for Daily 5.

After second recess and lunch, students presented their brochures to the class. I will try to upload all of them tonight if they are not too long. I learned so much about Russia, Egypt, Mexico, China, Italy, and Brazil!!

At the end of the day, we had some free time since we have been very efficient with getting our work compelted this week. Great job friends!
