Fantastic Friday!

We began the day with a house game. Students were selected to complete a Halloween relay race. First, one student needed to put their hand in a bucket of slime and find three spiders. Then, students were chosen to eat ghost “poop” (chocolate). After, students needed to drink “swamp” water. At the end, they needed to wrap a teacher from each house with toilet paper. Ms. Jaskolka was chosen to be wrapped up from KIP.

Also, the knowledgeable awards were handed out

and Mr. Sawatsky chose who had the best costume.

Afterwards, students had physical education with Ms. Lovan.

When students returned, they wrote their unit 8 spelling test and then completed one page in their cursive book.

We then had UOI. Students chose a print advertisement to write about in their Media Booklet. Students discussed the techniques, purpose, and target audience for the advertisement they chose.

After first recess and lunch students had French.

When students returned, they worked on a fun Halloween Writing Package. Students: corrected spider web sentences; made silly sentences about a ghost, bat, spider, witch, frog and pumpkin using Halloween verbs; wrote about a spider that came into our class using verbs and adjectives; found rhyming words; described what a pumpkin is, can do and what it has.

After second recess and lunch, we decorated cookies with icing and candy.

When we were finished cleaning up, we told silly Halloween Jokes!

We had such a fun day!

Here are Candy Donations the students kindly offered to give to the Eden Food Bank:

Tremendous Thursday!

****Parents we need white board markers for our class. If you could kindly bring some in, that would be a wonderful help!

We began the day practicing how to write a proper sentence. We reviewed that the words in a sentence must make sense and that our sentences must always start with a capital letter. Students completed two pages in their Ontario Writing books working on how to make sentences.

During physical education, we went outside with Ms. Jaskolka.

During UOI, we listened to three radio commercials. We chose one and wrote about the techniques, purpose, and target audience.

In Math, we explored the length of time that certain tasks take. Students answered what takes longer: lining up for recess or recess itself? What would take a shorter time: eating lunch or walking to the door? What would take less time: walking across the room or singing “Happy Birthday.” We figured out that it was singing happy birthday. We also used a pendulum to see how many swings it took to do certain tasks: write our name, draw and colour in a circle, say the alphabet. Once we were finished, students made their own questions of what takes a longer or shorter time.

After first recess and lunch, students had French. When students returned they wrote their homework in their agenda and then we did some organization in our classroom.

During second lunch, we sang the two and three times table song.

Afterwards, we kept working on our pumpkins and spider. They look fantastic!
