Tremendous Thursday!

We began the day presenting our advertisements to our classmates and our peers let us know what we did well and if we forgot to include something in our advertisements.

The there video was too long to load.
After we had physical education with Ms. Lovan.

During Math, we learned how to use a Mira to find a line of symmetry. We noticed that when we use the Mira we can see the reflection of one side in the Mira line up with the other side, if both sides of an object, figure, or letter have equal parts. We then looked at a square and used the Mira to find the lines of symmetry. We then looked at various pictures and determined the line of symmetry. After, we did the same with letters. We then had a challenge of coming up with a word that had a line of symmetry! Some words we came up with were WOW and OH.

After we had UOI. We wrote and drew about the various things that we can reduce, reuse and recycle. We came up with so many ideas!

After first recess and lunch we had French. After we wrote our homework in our agendas and then completed unfinished work.

After second recess and lunch we did two art activities. We did a special art activity first and then we started making an Earth by using recycled blue and green paper; we ripped the blue and green paper into small pieces and then glued them on the Earth.

Homework:

1.     Read for 20 minutes
2.     Spelling Test tomorrow
3.     Math test next Wednesday
4.     Reading Comprehension
5.     Bring in a picture f yourself (no bigger than 8cm length and 8cm width.

6.     Bring in 2 dollars for a special art activity.

Wonderful Wednesday!

We began the day having art with Mr. Monaghan and physical education with Ms. Lovan.

We then went to help the Grade 6’s with their Exhibition project about child labour.

After we had Math. We looked at a folded rectangle in half and noticed that when it was opened up we could see matching parts; the corners on opposite sides of the fold line match, opposite lines match. We tried folding it another way and realized that there are two lines of symmetry; this means that both sides are identical. We looked at a square, triangle, hexagon, and octagon and determined whether or not there was none, one, or two lines of symmetry. We then did the same in our math books. After, we were given a blank paper and we folded it evenly in half. Next, we draw an image of a figure and then cut it out and noticed that because we folded the paper in half, the other side will be identical when we cut it out. Last, we practiced drawing out mirror images of figures.

After first recess and lunch we had French. After we wrote our homework in our agendas and then had UOI. Today we learned how to write an acrostic poem: we write the word vertically and then use each letter to write about the topic. We wrote an acrostic poem for WATER together and then we wrote our own for EARTH day in our flip flap books.

After second recess and lunch, we practiced our advertisements that we have been working on in groups. We will be presenting them tomorrow.

Homework:

Read for 20 minutes

Tremendous Tuesday!

Action Star: Saanvi brought a grabageless lunch again today!!!

We began the day with our novel study. We used our book covers from last class to write a summary that would get other people excited and wanting to read our book.

After we had physical education with Ms. Lovan.

During UOI, we finished learning about reusing, reducing, and recycling when shopping. We then wrote about what we recycle most in our flip flap books.

After we had Math. Ms. Jaskolka showed us various shapes and we needed to figure out the sorting rule (three vertices/ more than three vertices, all pentagons). We then needed to figure out riddles that Ms. Jaskolka told us: I have three shapes. All together these shapes have 9 vertices, what are my shapes? Three triangles. I have three shapes. All together they have 14 edges, what are my shapes? Two pentagons and one square. After, we were given shapes and we needed to find friends who had shapes that were different from us and then the same as us; we explained how we know they are the same and different.

After first recess and lunch, we had French. When students returned, we wrote our homework in our agendas and then completed any unfinished work.

After second recess and lunch, we worked on our advertisements. We made sure that we are persuading our audience to buy our product using exciting adjectives and lots of detail!

Homework:
1.     Read for 20 minutes

2.     Casual Day tomorrow
