Fantastic Friday!
This morning we began the day with a very exciting house
game! First Ms. Lovan, our physical education teacher, informed us that we
raised more then 3000 dollars for the Terry Fox Foundation, so as promised, she
dressed up in a kangaroo costume. Students from St. Jude’s and Oakwood Academy
were chosen to throw a ball at Ms. Lovan and the student who did it first, won
house points for their team. Students were up on their feet, cheering on their
housemates!
Afterwards, students had art with Mr. Monaghan and physical
education with Ms. Lovan.
When students returned, we continued working on patterning
for our math unit. Students were asked to problem solve, given a certain amount
of coloured cubes and figuring out what kinds of patterns they could make.
For our unit of inquiry, we explored Italy. We watched a
video about Italy as well as the capital city, Rome. We then found Italy on our
world map and figured out that the simplest way to figure out where it is in
Europe, is to look for the shape of a boot.
After first recess and lunch, students had French.
When students returned, they wrote in their agendas and completed
any unfinished work. Before going out for second recess, we explored more about
Italy.
Afterwards, students had their Unit 3 Spelling Test and then
practiced their cursive. We then read a book called I’m like you, you’re like me,” a book about understanding and
appreciating each other. As a class, we discussed how we are all the same and
different as well as being kind a respectful towards others.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
