Fantastic Friday!
We began the day doing a spelling test and then working in
our cursive books.
After students had physical education with Ms. Lovan.
When students returned we learned about estimating in math.
We looked at a big picture of a squirrel collecting nuts for the winter. We
first estimated how many we thought there were and then we counted by 5’s to see
if we were correct. Next, we were given either markers or counting cubes and
estimated how many there were and then counted the items by grouping them. We
were counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s today. Students also completed 2 pages in their
Math workbooks.
Afterwards we made Japan posters. We brought pictures of
five features of Japan (food, shelter, transportation, leisure and clothing)
and we made travel posters.
After first recess and lunch, students had French.
When students returned they wrote their homework in their
agendas and then finished working on their Japan posters.
After second recess and lunch we worked on how to write and
put together proper sentences. Students were each given broken up sentence
strips and needed to figure out how to put the sentences back together. Students
needed to make sure there was a capital at the beginning, a period at the end,
and also reading it over to make sure the sentence makes sense. Students were
also given a noun, verb, and adjective chart to fill in as they put their
sentences together.

Students also can practice the three ways we learned to read
