Terrific Tuesday!
In the morning, students had art with Mr. Monaghan and
physical education with Miss. Lovan.
During UOI we explored atlases, globes, and maps. Students
inquired into the differences of a globe and a map. Students explored atlases
and went on a scavenger hunt looking for the equator, longitude and latitude
lines, and a compass rose. Students were given different atlases and learned
that legends are so important because they help us know what is on the map,
especially because different atlases can use different symbols.
In math, we continued learning about sorting and patterning. We began by going over what is an attribute (colour, job, shape, size and direction) and proceeded to sort objects in the classroom based on their attribute. We learned that items can belong in two categories such as a green marker; it is a marker and it is green. We used a sorting circle to separate items by their attributes and then used these attributes to find something similar. For example, we had makers on one side and green shapes on another side. The first attribute is job and the second attribute is green. The second one also has another attribute, shape. In the middle we put a green marker, so we took an attribute from each side (colour and job).

After first recess and lunch, students had French.
Then students wrote in their agendas and began working in
their journals. Students wrote at least three to four things they did this
summer with detail.
After, students completed the diagrams they began yesterday
in their Ontario Writing book.
