Tremendous Thursday!
In the morning, students had art with Mr. Monaghan and
physical education with Ms. Lovan.
We then continued to inquire about our world and learn about
our own geographic location. First we reviewed the seven continents on a floor
puzzle map and sang a song that will help us remember all seven continents. We
went over the five oceans on a map and also sang a song about them.
Continents and Oceans songs
Then we used our map to find our country, province, and city. We then discussed how our geographic location impacts our food, shelter, clothing, and recreation. Knowing that in Canada we have four seasons, the way we dress in the winter will be very different from how people dress closer to the equator. While we can swim and do summer activities for part of the year, we also have the opportunity to skate, make snow angels and a snowman in the winter.
During Math, we continued working on patterns with two attributes (shape, colour, direction, job, and size). Students were given questions to work on and then compared answers with their classmates. Students discussed similarities and differences within their patterns.

After first recess and lunch, students had French.
Afterwards, students wrote their homework in their agendas and completed any unfinished work.
***Reminder Spelling Test Tomorrow
After second recess and lunch, we worked on map-making in
our Ontario Writing workbooks. Students were to create a map of anything they
wanted and properly label it. We will continue working on our maps tomorrow.
At the end of the day, we played a game that helped us
remember our nouns. Students asked me if we could play this game, which let me
know that the students are enjoying what they learning.
See you all tomorrow!
