Terrific Tuesday!

In the morning we learned about antonyms in Language Arts. We first determined that antonyms are opposites and then we came up with a list on the white board. Afterwards, students played a game about antonyms that was similar to ‘Go Fish’. Students asked their partner if they had the antonym for the cards they had in their hand. We will continue playing this game tomorrow.

After students had physical education with Ms. Lovan.

When students returned we learned about adding and subtracting. We first did a problem together and then played a game where we needed to add and subtract up to 18. Students were given a game board and number cards. If students were able to add and subtract the number cards they were given, they were able to move two spots. Students were given ten frames and counting cubes to help with their addition and subtraction.

After first recess and lunch, students had French.

When students returned they wrote their homework in their agendas and then we inquired into local and global foods. We learned that local foods are grown in Canada and that global foods are grown outside of Canada and then brought by a boat, airplane, or truck. Students worked on making a chart of local and global food using fliers from the grocery store.

After second recess and lunch we continued with our novel study, reading Flat Stanley’s The Japanese Ninja Surprise.  We then wrote antonyms of words found in the chapter.

At the end of the day, students finished working on their local and global food chart.
