In the morning we had art with Mr. Monaghan and physical
education with Ms. Lovan
When students returned, we wrote in our agendas and then had
spelling. Students wrote down their list words and completed their workbooks.
After first recess and lunch, we went to the gym to learn
about Terry Fox. We watched a video that taught us how Terry Fox had cancer and
ran across six provinces for cancer research. He ran for 143 days and never
gave up. Terry Fox began the marathon of hope and today we continued it as a
school community. St. Jude’s and Oakwood Academy walked over to the community
park and students ran or walked around the track. Today we were all Terry Fox.
When we came back to school, students continued to work on
their letters during unit of inquiry. Students are writing an imaginary letter,
describing what someone from a hotter climate would expect when coming to
Canada. Students used the information about the features of their community in
their letter. Students focused on food, clothing, shelter, transportation and
recreation.
