Terrific
Tuesday!
Today
we began the day learning about adjectives. Last week we discussed that nouns can be a person, place,
or thing, and today we learned that an adjective describes a noun. We went over
some examples and then students wrote down adjectives describing themselves.
After
students had physical education with Ms. Lovan.
When
students returned, we inquired into the different communities in Canada. We
looked at a video about Igloolik in Nunavut and Vancouver in British Columbia
and talked about the similarities and differences that we see; we focused on
food, shelter, transportation, clothing, and recreation. Afterwards, we looked
at a map of Canada and plotted all of the provinces and territories.
In
Math, we continued our unit in patterning. We learned that patterns can be
represented in different ways, which means that the pattern core/rule can stay
the same but the way the pattern is represented can be different (words,
symbols, shapes, objects, letters, numbers, pictures, colours, and direction). We did some patterns
as a class and then students made their own patterns and switched with another
classmate in order to represent their pattern in a different way.
After
first recess and lunch students had French.
When
students returned, we wrote our homework in our agendas. Then we continued
working on math and representing patterns in different ways.
Afterwards
we read chapter 2 of Flat Stanley’s
Worldwide adventures: The Japanese Ninja Surprise. While reading about
Stanley’s first experience in Japan, we also wrote down any adjectives we heard
that described Stanley.
We
then drew a picture of ourselves for visual arts and attached our seven
adjectives describing ourselves.
